MEET
ANDRE WARD

Andre Ward is known as one of the greatest fighters of his generation, retiring from the sport in 2017 as the best fighter in the world and on a 21-year winning streak. A five-time world champion, Ward began boxing at just nine-years-old after learning that his father, Frank Ward, had competed in the sport. He would go on to have a historic career, winning Olympic Gold in 2004 and he remains the last American male to claim the top spot on the medal stand.

Ward won world titles in the super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions and climbed his way to the top of the pound for pound rankings, earning a perfect 32-0 record.

Ward always wanted to be one of the best broadcasters in the world, following behind his mentor Roy Jones Jr. Ward began working as an analyst while he was still an active fighter, calling fights for SHOWTIME and HBO before adding his voice and expertise to the ESPN broadcast team.

He would go on to win the Sam Taub Award Excellence in Broadcast Journalism award from the Boxing Writers association in 2019 and continues to work in the broadcast space currently. Ward was named Chief Content Officer of ALL THE SMOKE FIGHT in July of 2024 and his series THE ART OF WARD features interviews with the biggest names and subjects in the sport.

In addition to his analyst work, fans have become accustomed to seeing Ward on screens both big and small through various roles. He played Danny “Stuntman” Wheeler in the blockbuster films Creed and Creed II as well as hosting the reprisal of Mark Burnett’s Contender series in 2018.

Ward’s incredible life story was recently profiled in his documentary “SOG: The Book of Ward.” The inspirational film, which is currently available on Showtime, details his improbable rise to the top of his sport despite insurmountable obstacles throughout his life.

Yet Ward didn’t stop there, he released his memoir, Killing The Image, A Champion’s Journey of Faith, Fighting and Forgiveness on November 14, 2023. The deeply personal memoir shares the challenges and lessons he has learned throughout his life and career, and it is currently available now everywhere books are sold.

In addition to his book and documentary, Ward is a skilled motivational speaker, and has crafted targeted messages to various audiences, including: corporations, colleges, youth groups and churches.

The father of five is a role model and mentor to many both in and out of the sports world due to his strong character, story of success and ability to motivate others to follow their dreams and live life in the right way. Ward and his wife Tiffiney are licensed ministers who serve as youth pastors at their church in the Bay Area.
